The Simpsons Season 3

STORY RECAP

What happened in Season 2?

The season began with Bart facing the possibility of being held back a year after failing a test. However, after a blizzard gave him an extra day to study, he was able to pass by applying practical knowledge of an obscure historical event. Homer's life was soon changed when he discovered a miracle hair growth formula called Dimoxinil, which led to a promotion at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. However, his success was short-lived, as his hair fell out after Bart spilled the remaining formula, and he was demoted back to his old position. The Simpsons family then found themselves at the center of a political campaign when Mr. Burns ran for Governor after the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant was found to have numerous safety violations. Burns' campaign was ultimately unsuccessful, thanks in part to Marge serving him a three-eyed fish for dinner, which made him lose his appetite and ultimately the election. As the season progressed, Homer's antics continued to get him into trouble, including becoming a mascot for the Springfield Isotopes and attempting to jump the Springfield Gorge on a daredevil stunt. He also landed in the hospital after eating potentially poisonous fugu, but it turned out he was not poisoned after all. The family also dealt with various personal struggles, including Bart running away from home after being blamed for ruining Thanksgiving, and Marge forming a campaign against The Itchy & Scratchy Show due to its violent content. Marge eventually realized the hypocrisy of her actions and gave up her protest. In other storylines, Homer's half-brother Herb Powell was introduced, and Homer's design for a car led to Herb's financial downfall. The family also met new characters, including Mr. Bergstrom, a substitute teacher who became a mentor to Lisa, and Bea Simmons, a wealthy woman who fell in love with Grampa. The season also explored the Simpsons' relationships, including Homer and Marge's marriage, which was put to the test at a counseling retreat. Homer ultimately proved his love for Marge by letting go of a legendary catfish he had caught. The season ended with the family continuing to navigate their personal struggles and relationships, with Homer and Marge's marriage remaining strong despite their challenges.
