STORY RECAP
What happened in Season 23?
The season began with Homer befriending a former CIA agent who was hired as a security guard at the nuclear plant. The agent was eventually fired, but not before he rescued Homer from a Ukrainian gang that had kidnapped him. The agent then got a new job at the DMV, thanks to Marge. Meanwhile, Ned Flanders and Edna Krabappel were still dating.
As the season progressed, Bart got into various misadventures, including getting his classmates excited about learning with the help of Superintendent Chalmers, who was later fired and then reinstated. Bart also created a robot seal with Martin that became a hit with the elderly crowd, and he posed as a native on an alien planet in a parody of Avatar.
Homer had his own share of adventures, including becoming Mr. Burns' accountant executive, getting a new assistant who tried to take his job, and developing a bed-wetting problem that was connected to a childhood memory. He also got to be a political pundit with his own show after a video of him ranting about the TSA went viral.
Marge started a food blog with Bart and Lisa, which hurt Homer's feelings, and she later rescued him from a meth lab after she sent him to the wrong address. Lisa fell in love with an intellectual romantic, but they broke up when they couldn't commit to each other. She also created a social network website called SpringFace, which turned everyone into an online addict, and she was voted as the least popular student at school.
The season also saw the Simpsons getting thrown out of Springfield and moving to an off-the-grid community, which eventually became the new Springfield. Bart staged a fake virus outbreak on a cruise ship, stranding the family at sea, and Homer saw visions of a super-suave superspy who taught him how to be a better husband.
In the end, Ned Flanders eloped with Edna Krabappel, but he later had doubts and stayed with the Simpsons, where he learned that couples will always have disagreements. Lisa learned to be true to herself with the help of Lady Gaga, and the season ended with the Simpsons back in their hometown, which had been relocated to a new community.
