STORY RECAP

What happened in Season 1?

Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher, was diagnosed with Stage 3 terminal lung cancer on his 50th birthday. He teamed up with his former student Jesse Pinkman to cook and sell crystal meth. Their first attempt at cooking in a remote desert area resulted in a highly valuable product. However, they were soon confronted by Emilio, a local distributor, and his cousin Krazy-8, who recognized Walt from a DEA raid. Walt poisoned Emilio and Krazy-8 with phosphine gas, but Krazy-8 escaped and was later found by Walt, who took him captive. Walt initially showed mercy to Krazy-8, providing him with food and water, but eventually killed him when he realized Krazy-8 was planning to attack him. Meanwhile, Walt's family grew suspicious of his behavior, and his wife Skyler questioned him about his activities. Walt revealed his cancer diagnosis to his family and initially declined treatment due to financial concerns. However, after a change of heart, he decided to undergo chemotherapy. As Walt and Jesse continued to cook and sell meth, they faced production difficulties and encountered the psychopathic drug lord Tuco Salamanca. Walt impressed Tuco by confronting him and forcing him to pay for stolen meth, and Tuco agreed to work with them. Walt and Jesse broke into a warehouse to steal a large barrel of methylamine, which allowed them to produce a larger amount of meth. They delivered the meth to Tuco, but witnessed him brutally beat one of his associates, leaving them horrified. Throughout the season, Walt's relationships with his family and Jesse evolved, and he became more entrenched in the meth trade. His brother-in-law, DEA Agent Hank Schrader, began investigating the new meth kingpin in Albuquerque, unaware that it was Walt. The season ended with Walt and Jesse deeply involved in the meth trade, working with the volatile Tuco, and Walt undergoing chemotherapy for his cancer.
