Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

In Raiders of the Lost Ark (set in 1936), Indiana Jones races Nazi agents to recover the Ark of the Covenant. He reunites with Marion Ravenwood and works with his friend Sallah to find the Ark in Egypt. His rival Belloq and the Nazis seize it, but when they open it, supernatural forces kill them. Indy and Marion survive, and the U.S. government stores the Ark in a secret warehouse. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, released later but set in 1935, follows Indy, Short Round, and Willie Scott to an Indian village whose sacred Sankara stone and children have been taken. At Pankot Palace, they uncover a sinister cult led by Mola Ram. Indy is briefly subjected to mind control, but Short Round frees him. They rescue the children, recover the stone, and escape after Mola Ram falls from a rope bridge. In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, set in 1938, Indy learns that his father, Henry Jones Sr., has disappeared while pursuing the Holy Grail. Indy and Elsa Schneider search for clues in Venice before finding Henry imprisoned in a castle. Elsa is revealed to be working with the Nazis, who also seek the Grail. Father and son escape and follow Henry's research to the Grail's hidden temple. When Nazi collaborator Walter Donovan drinks from the wrong cup, he dies; Indy identifies the true Grail and uses its water to heal his wounded father. Elsa attempts to take the Grail beyond the temple's boundary, causing the floor to collapse, and falls to her death. Indy nearly reaches for it too, but Henry persuades him to let it go. The two leave together, their relationship strengthened by the ordeal.
