STORY RECAP

What happened before Quantum of Solace?

The story so far begins with Casino Royale, where James Bond is promoted to 00 agent after assassinating traitorous MI6 section chief Dryden. Bond then thwarts Le Chiffre's plan to destroy Skyfleet's prototype airliner and attends a Texas hold 'em tournament at the Casino Royale in Montenegro to defeat Le Chiffre. With the help of Felix Leiter, Bond wins the tournament, but Le Chiffre kidnaps Vesper, Bond's love interest, in an attempt to trap him. However, White kills Le Chiffre and spares Bond and Vesper. It is later revealed that Vesper has betrayed Bond, stealing his winnings, and she ultimately drowns in an elevator cage after being taken captive by gunmen. Bond rescues her but is too late to save her life. In the end, Bond learns that Vesper was a double agent who traded the winnings for his life, and he locates and shoots Mr. White in the leg, introducing himself as James Bond.
